Emily and Patrick are a wife and husband team who practice exclusively family law in Hamilton, Brantford and the surrounding areas. They are well experienced in litigation and negotiation. Emily and Patrick handle their family matters with care and professionalism.

Emily Van Looyen
Partner
Emily has practiced family law for the past eight years and routinely attends the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice and Unified Family Courts. Emily handles all manners of family law issues.
Emily is well-versed in issues stemming from separation and takes a caring and pragmatic approach to your family law needs.
She is a trained Collaborative Practice professional and is empaneled as an agent for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer, representing children in family law and child protection matters.
Emily volunteers as a Lawyer Supervisor for Pro Bono Students Canada and is on the Board of Directors for Contact Hamilton.

Patrick Fallon
Partner
Patrick is well experienced in family litigation, having practiced family law for over eight years. Patrick regularly attends the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice and Unified Family Courts. Patrick handles all manners of family law issues.
Patrick encourages settlement in matters and assists with the preparation of domestic contracts, including separation agreements, cohabitation agreements and marriage contracts, in addition to litigation.
Patrick is an involved member of the Hamilton and Dundas tennis community in his spare time.

Amanda Lopez
Associate Lawyer
Amanda joined Van Looyen and Fallon as an associate lawyer in 2025.
As a natural empath, Amanda is dedicated to guiding clients through the emotional complexities often associated with family law matters with compassion and understanding.
Amanda holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Public Policy from the University of Guelph and an LL.B from the University of Leicester.
She recently completed her articles at a civil litigation firm and prior to this worked as a law clerk at a family law firm.
Outside of work, she enjoys listening to true crime podcasts, attending reformer Pilates classes, and spending time with her dog and loved ones.

Nicole Wolfe
Legal Assistant
Nicole started her Family Law career in December of 2000 with a sole practitioner in Burlington. In June 2014, she moved to a new position in Brantford to expand her knowledge and skill as a legal assistant. In the summer of 2023, Nicole eagerly joined our firm.
Over the decades, Nicole has provided support to hundreds of individuals, assisting them in navigating the emotional journey of separation and litigation. She thoroughly enjoys taking the time to speak with clients and being that compassionate support during a difficult time.

Kathryn Pereira
Law Clerk
Kathryn has a number of years of experience as a law clerk. She provides compassionate and efficient client service and is aimed towards resolution.
Prior to working at Van Looyen and Fallon, she established her career by working and volunteering at various firms around the Greater Toronto Area since 2015. Kathryn’s experiences have assisted her in establishing a strong knowledge of Family, and Civil Law.
She has a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Ottawa and subsequently completed the Paralegal Program at Algonquin College.
